Well, another basketball season for Elliott is over. Today was the first round of the playoffs and they lost. Elliott alone scored almost 40% of his entire team's points again - which is consistent with his whole season (he scored 34% of the entire team's points for the year). They ended up with 3 wins and 10 losses BUT, he had an outstanding year. He shot 51% from the field (up from 30% last year), had 119 points (up from 67 last year), and a HUGE 114 rebounds (versus 24 last year). After the game today the assistant coach came up and told that they asked Elliott to do it all this year - bring the ball up court, score, rebound - everything. It was just too much. But he had fun and it was great to watch his development.
After some major storm related delays and facility damage, Ashleigh resumes her indoor lacrosse season today. In case you are wondering, I don't track her stats as closely as there aren't as many categories and her games are more for working out than high level competition.

Buzzer Beater
There aren't many highlights to Elliott's basketball season this year, but he had an exciting game the other night. They were down by 9 with 1:33 to go in the game. Elliott started grabbing the ball and tying it up so they got it back on the alternating possessions. Then he hit a long jumper and had a beautiful assist to a kid for an easy lay-up. Next thing I knew, his team was up by 1 with 4 seconds to go. The other team in-bounds the ball to the far side of the court. The kid takes a running shot which misses. Elliott pulls down the rebound and covers up the ball and just holds on for the win! Pretty exciting. He was supposed to have the first playoff game today but it was postponed due to 20 inches of snow... (so far!).
