Opossum (and other animal) Crossing

Spring must be coming because the animals in the woods are starting to show. Last night Mocha and I were out in the backyard and I heard some rustling in the woods. And it went on and on. So I grabbed my giant flood/flashlight and there was an opossum ambling along out in the woods. Apparently they don't hibernate but I am claiming this sighting as a good sign. Forget that goofy groundhog. But speaking of groundhogs, I saw one of them scampering around out in the woods this morning. They DO hibernate so I am encouraged. To further usher in spring, I grilled ribs outside last night.

I bought myself another squirrel proof bird feeder with our tax return and it actually works. I have yet to see a squirrel on it (though they do hang around under it).

Looks like a nice day and week ahead. We still have some snow piles here and there. I had to drain off a lot of pool water from the melting snow.

Mocha is growing by the hour. A friend of mine let me borrow another crate so now we have one upstairs in the bedroom for her to sleep in at night, and one downstairs for the day. If she wasn't teething, we would just let her roam the kitchen during the day (we have it gated off). But I am afraid she will chew up curtains, chairs or whatever.

Glad to see that there is more than one anonymous (or perhaps many anonymous posters here). Now I can't get blamed for everything. I'm going to go with the opossum, though, just to be difficult ;)

Oh great. The leader of the Anonymous Army has enlisted another recruit! ha ha I think an effort should be made to make a movie for the underdog to even things up a bit. Perhaps it could be called, "Possum Night."

I actually always thought it was "possum" vs "opossum". See, I didn't do my homework or google (as you so often instruct me to do). Thanks to you and your blog, I now know it's an opossum. Your blog is turning out to be very useful.

I actually found that spelling when googling for a picture. My blog goal is to educate the masses (not just infuriate them!).

Well, good. I am glad that you educated me. Although I did google and possum is another acceptable name for that creature. Imagine...we were both right. I wish we had some sort of code so that you don't confuse me with any other anonymous who infuriates you ;) I am the one who stuck by you in regard to the puppy mills and who asked a question in regard to crate size (which initially upset you). Hmmm...let me think of a code. Or maybe I could get a google account and all this would be a thing of the past. Anyway, looking forward to hearing more of the adventures of Mocha.

So does that make ME the anonymous that infuriates? Nevermind, I probably don't want to know the answer to that question!! ha ha I just want to know who the anonymous winker is?!?

Anonymous said...

Darn, you figured out my code....the wink. Yes, I admit, I am the Anonymous Winker. To make things easier, Shawn can just call me Sarah. Sarah Palin I am. From this point going forward, there shall be no hiding behind "Anonymous" and there shouldn't be any further confusion as to who I am. No google account necessary ;) Peace.

Nice to meet you Anonymous Winker. I will call myself Crazy Girl! I wonder if we know each other?

Anonymous said...

I wonder? It tends to be a small world, who knows? I have to say, that I envisioned the "other" Anonymous poster being a guy...crazy guy would work ;) But, see that is where things can get lost or miscontrued in texts, emails, and blogger posts. Must be careful to not assume anything. My original reason for checking in, is that I share the same love as Shawn and his family for furry friends. Will be back for the next update on the family pets.

Well this is certainly getting interesting. Just when I think I have it figured out, I am thrown off course. Who can it be now...?

Anonymous said...

You may never know for sure. . .

He will...if I tell him who I am...which I am contemplating. The question is...who are you? And, what are you doing here? Is it your love of animals, family pets, oppossums, or groundhogs? Or, is it your love of games? I'll check back in when crazy girl is no longer stirring up trouble. Take care, Shawn. Enjoy your new pet. While she can never take Jasmine's place in your heart, she can sure fill it with lots of love and great memories. Be well.

Best,
Sarah ;)

Well so far I have ruled out two people and my list is now down to none. Very intriguing. I guess I better post some more on the blog. Thanks "Sarah" for the laughs.

I originally commented because Groundhog Day is my favorite movie. I do, however, love animals and family pets. And, it seems, I do love a good game. Not a big fan of opossum though!
